Welcome to the DFA Slow TV website. Immerse yourself in archive film as we transport you back in time using visuals from the past, by way of the Northern Ireland Screen archive.

The collections cover the gentle side of life here: traditions, folklore, crafts, and fashion, among various other themes. The continuous stream of film means you don’t know what’s coming next, and we hope you will spend many happy hours here watching to uncover the previously hidden treasures present within. So put your feet up, relax, and see where you end up.

Use the schedule to see the various themes and click on the collections links to explore more on the Digital Film Archive.

The Digital Film Archive is a free public access resource. Constantly updated and expanding, the DFA contains hundreds of hours of moving image titles, spanning from 1897 to the present day.

Primarily focused on Northern Irish society, the collection also documents Pre-Partition Ireland and contains material of interest to wider UK and International audiences.

Within the archive you will find items covering the breadth of moving image genres: broadcast news, feature films, television dramas, sport, documentaries, animation, light entertainment, amateur footage, newsreels and more.

Northern Ireland Screen wishes to thank those individuals and organisations who have waived their normal rights fees and provided content for non-commercial use in the Digital Film Archive project. This project is funded by the Broadcast Authority of Ireland under the Archiving Scheme 2.

Details of copyright holders can be found on the accompanying 'Rights Holder' tab for each film on the digital film archive website.

The Digital Film Archive is supported and funded by the Department for Communities.
